Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp jarred minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1 egg (slightly beaten)
  • 1/8 cup Parmesan cheese (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup ricotta cheese

Additional Ingredients:

  • 4 oz uncooked pasta (any shape)
  • 1/2 lb raw shrimp, thawed
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cook the pasta according to the package directions.

  3. In a saucepan, melt butter on medium heat and add minced garlic and flour. Cook until bubbly.
  4. Gradually stir in milk, broth, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix beaten egg, Parmesan cheese, and ricotta cheese.
  6. Spray baking dishes with non-stick spray.
  7. Combine broth mixture, cheese mixture, and pasta. Divide into prepared dishes.
  8. Layer shrimp over the pasta mixture.
  9. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and parsley.
  10. Bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • I buy frozen shrimp that is already peeled, deveined, & tails off to save prep time. Thaw before using.
  • Rinsing the pasta cools it down so the egg in the sauce doesn’t cook too early. This helps the sauce and pasta bind well during baking.
