Description

Puff Pastry Christmas Tree Pizza Bites are festive, bite-sized appetizers perfect for holiday gatherings. Made with flaky puff pastry, savory tomato sauce, and melted mozzarella, these easy-to-make treats bring fun and flavor to any party table.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry Base

  • 1 Puff Pastry rectangular roll

Pizza Sauce

  • ½ cup Tomato passata (plain)
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ tablespoon Olive Oil (extra virgin)
  • ⅛ teaspoon Dried Oregano (optional)

Toppings

  • 1 Mozzarella ball (shredded)
  • Olive Oil (for brushing)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the pizza bites.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Unroll the cold puff pastry sheet onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out as many tree shapes as possible. Remove the excess pastry and space the trees slightly apart on the baking sheet.
  3. Make Pizza Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the plain tomato passata, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, and ⅛ teaspoon dried oregano if using. Stir well to mix and adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Assemble Pizza Bites: Spread a spoonful of the prepared tomato sauce evenly over each puff pastry tree. Then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top of the sauce.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet on the lower rack of the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • These pizza bites are perfect as appetizers or snacks during the holiday season.
  • Use a good quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.
  • Optionally add dried oregano to enhance the sauce flavor.
  • Make sure the puff pastry is cold when cutting to ensure clean shapes and better puff.
  • Enjoy warm for the best texture and melted cheese experience.
