Ingredients

Scale

Christmas Chex Mix

  • 2 cups Rice Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups Corn Chex Cereal
  • 1 ½ cups Cheerios Cereal
  • 2 ½ cups Gluten-Free Pretzels (such as Snyder’s Gluten-Free twists)
  • 1 cup Salted Peanuts (just salted, not seasoned)
  • 1 cup Red & Green M&Ms Candy (milk chocolate or peanut butter)
  • 16 oz. Vanilla Almond Bark White Candy Melts or White Chocolate Chips

Optional Decoration

  • 1-2 Tablespoons Red and Green Sprinkles (nonpareils or jimmies)
  • Flaky Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Station: Spread out a few sheets of parchment paper on a cookie sheet or counter to prepare for cooling the coated mix later.
  2. Combine The Christmas Chex Mix Ingredients: Set aside half of the M&Ms for decoration. In a large bowl, mix together the Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Cheerios, gluten-free pretzels, half of the M&Ms, and salted peanuts.
  3. Melt The White Chocolate Coating: Melt the vanilla almond bark or white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-30 second intervals. Stir well after each interval until smooth and fully melted, ensuring no lumps remain. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler on the stovetop.
  4. Drizzle & Stir: Quickly pour the melted white chocolate over the mixed cereals and pretzels. Stir promptly to ensure all pieces are evenly coated before the coating begins to harden.
  5. Spread Out, Sprinkle & Cool: Transfer the coated mixture onto the prepared parchment paper in clusters of varying sizes. Immediately sprinkle the remaining M&Ms and optional sprinkles on top. Allow it to cool at room temperature until the coating is completely set and firm.
  6. Serve & Store: Once set, serve immediately or store the chex mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • Hold back some M&Ms and sprinkle them on after coating to make the colorful candies more visible and vibrant.
  • Add a few sprinkles for festive decoration; this does not affect flavor but enhances presentation.
  • For extra decorative pretzels, dip 1/2 to 3/4 cup of pretzels separately into melted almond bark, sprinkle with sprinkles, and let dry before mixing with the rest. This step is optional and purely cosmetic.
