Description

Festive Goat Cheese Christmas Present Appetizers are elegant and easy-to-make bite-sized treats perfect for holiday gatherings. Featuring herbed goat cheese neatly shaped into squares on crispy rice crackers, adorned with chive ribbons, pink peppercorn ‘bows,’ and parsley leaves, these appetizers combine creamy, tangy, and fresh flavors with a charming presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Appetizer Base

  • 12 rice crackers

Cheese and Garnishes

  • 4 oz. herbed goat cheese
  • 3 chives
  • 2 oz. curly parsley leaves
  • 12 pink peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Fill the Crackers: Place a 1½-inch square cookie cutter in the center of a rice cracker. Spoon about 1½ teaspoons of herbed goat cheese into the cookie cutter, spreading it evenly to fill the area completely.
  2. Remove the Cutter: Using a small spoon or your finger (wearing a plastic glove), press gently and carefully lift the cookie cutter straight up, leaving a neat square of goat cheese on the cracker.
  3. Create the Chive Ribbon: Take a chive and cut it into two pieces each the length of the goat cheese square. Lay one piece down the center of the cheese square. Cut the other piece in half and arrange those halves on either side to form a cross shape that looks like a ribbon on a present.
  4. Prepare the Peppercorn Bow: Stick a tiny bit of goat cheese onto a pink peppercorn to help it adhere. Then place the peppercorn in the center of the chive ribbon to resemble a bow.
  5. Add Parsley Leaves: Using a toothpick or cocktail pin, gently press two small parsley leaves on either side of the goat cheese square to enhance decoration and add freshness.

Notes

  • Rice crackers tend to lose their crispness after about an hour when refrigerated together with the cheese, but will remain tasty within that time. For making these appetizers further in advance, consider using more dense wheat-based crackers like Ritz, which hold their crunch longer.
  • If pink peppercorns are difficult to find locally, you can order them online, such as on Amazon, or visit a specialty spice shop.
