Description

Fun and spooky Frankenstein Marshmallow Pops coated with green candy melts and decorated with chocolate, pretzel bolts, candy eyeballs, and edible markers. A perfect festive treat for Halloween or themed parties, these pops combine sweet and crunchy textures on a stick for easy serving and enjoyment.

Ingredients

Coating

  • Green candy melts – amount as needed for coating

Main

  • Marshmallows – 6 large
  • Small pretzel rods – enough for 12 small bolt pieces
  • Semisweet chocolate chips – 1/4 cup (for melting)
  • Candy eyeballs – 12 pieces

Decorations

  • Edible red marker – 1
  • Edible black marker – 1
  • Toothpicks – for detail work
  • Lollipop sticks or colorful straws – 6

Instructions

  1. Melt the Green Candy Melts: Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler according to package directions until completely smooth and melted.
  2. Dip Marshmallows: Insert a lollipop stick or straw into each marshmallow, then carefully dip each marshmallow into the melted green candy melts, turning it to fully coat. Stand the coated marshmallows upright in a glass filled with uncooked rice or oatmeal to set, then refrigerate for about 5 minutes until the coating firms slightly.
  3. Prepare Hair with Chocolate: Melt the semisweet chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler until smooth. Dip the top portion of each coated marshmallow into the melted chocolate, then use a toothpick to drag the chocolate downward to create spikes resembling Frankenstein’s hair. Refrigerate again about 5 minutes to harden the chocolate.
  4. Attach Pretzel Bolts: Break pretzel rods into small 1/8-inch pieces to resemble bolts. Carefully push one piece into each side of the marshmallow about one-third of the way from the bottom to create Frankenstein’s neck bolts.
  5. Add Eyes and Facial Features: Using a toothpick and some of the melted chocolate, dab two small dots on each marshmallow to attach the candy eyeballs. Once secure, use the black edible marker to draw a mouth and the red marker to add a laceration scar on the forehead for a spooky effect.
  6. Serve or Store: Enjoy the marshmallow pops immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use a glass filled with uncooked rice or oatmeal to hold marshmallow pops upright while coating sets.
  • Make sure the candy melts and chocolate are fully melted and smooth for easy dipping and decorating.
  • Store pops in the refrigerator in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
  • These treats make great party snacks or Halloween-themed desserts.
  • Use edible markers carefully to avoid smudging on the candy coating.
