Description

Celebrate Halloween with this festive and delicious Halloween Spiderweb 7-Layer Dip. Featuring layers of refried beans, creamy guacamole, zesty salsa, taco-seasoned sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese, this dip is perfectly topped with a sour cream spider web design, black olives, diced green peppers, and tomatoes. It’s a spooky, crowd-pleasing party appetizer that’s easy to assemble and perfect for dipping your favorite chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Layers

  • 16 ounces Refried Beans (canned)
  • 16 ounces Guacamole
  • 16 ounces Salsa

Sour Cream Mixture

  • 1 3/4 cups Sour Cream
  • 1 Packet Taco Seasoning (1 ounce)

Toppings

  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Diced Tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup Diced Green Bell Pepper
  • 2.25 ounces Sliced & Drained Black Olives (canned)
  • Plastic Spiders (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Layer Refried Beans: In a 2-quart round casserole dish, spread the 16 ounces of refried beans into an even, smooth layer to serve as the base of the dip.
  2. Add Guacamole Layer: Carefully add the 16 ounces of guacamole on top of the refried beans, spreading it evenly to create the second layer.
  3. Prepare Sour Cream Mixture: Measure out 1/4 cup of sour cream and set it aside for later use in decorating the spider web. Mix the remaining 1 1/2 cups of sour cream with the 1-ounce packet of taco seasoning until fully combined.
  4. Spread Sour Cream Mixture: Spread the taco-seasoned sour cream mixture evenly over the guacamole layer.
  5. Add Salsa Layer: Spread the 16 ounces of salsa over the sour cream layer evenly.
  6. Top with Cheese: Finely chop or sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the salsa layer, covering it fully.
  7. Create the Spider Web: Place the reserved 1/4 cup of sour cream into a Ziploc bag with one corner cut off, an icing bag, or a condiment bottle with a small nozzle. Draw a spider web pattern on top of the cheese by first making a cross with two intersecting lines, rotating the dish 90° to make another cross, then drawing three curved lines between each arm of the cross to resemble webbing.
  8. Decorate the Edges: Arrange the diced tomatoes, diced green bell peppers, and sliced black olives along the edges of the dip to form a colorful border.
  9. Add Plastic Spiders: Place plastic spiders carefully on top of the spider web design for a fun Halloween decoration.
  10. Serve or Store: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. Best served chilled.

Notes

  • This Halloween 7-layer dip combines classic Mexican-inspired flavors in a festive presentation that’s perfect for parties.
  • Using a piping bag or squeeze bottle for the sour cream spider web makes creating the design easier and more precise.
  • Fine chopping the cheddar cheese helps the spider web pattern stand out more clearly on top.
  • Use fresh or your favorite store-bought guacamole and salsa for best results.
  • The dip can be prepared a few hours ahead but decorate with spiders just before serving.
