Main Ingredients:
- 1 medium yellow onion, quartered
- 1 cup fresh parsley, washed and patted dry
- 600 grams lean ground beef
Spices:
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon seven spice pre-mixed spice blend
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne, more to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Onion and Parsley: In a food processor, pulse quartered onion and parsley until finely chopped.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped parsley and onion, and all spices. Mix thoroughly.
- Form Kebabs: Shape meat mixture around skewers to form kebabs about 1-1.5 inches thick.
- Grill Kebabs: Preheat grill to medium-high. Grill kebabs for about 4 minutes on each side until cooked through.
- Serve: Serve hot off the grill.
Notes
- If using wood skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before skewering the meat.
- Seven spice is a common Middle Eastern spice blend; allspice can be a substitute.
- For baking alternative, shape Kafta into patties and bake at 375ºF for 15-20 minutes.
- Leftover Kafta can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
