Description

These Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun and festive Halloween snack, featuring hot dogs wrapped in crescent dough strips to resemble spooky mummies. Perfectly baked until golden and served with mustard ‘eyes,’ they are easy to prepare and delight both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (8-oz.) can Crescent dough
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • 12 hot dogs
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • Dijon mustard (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Dough Strips: Separate the crescent dough into 4 rectangles, pinching the seams together where necessary to make solid rectangles. Then cut each rectangle lengthwise into thin strips to be used as bandages.
  3. Cut Cheese into Strips: Cut each slice of American cheese into 4 strips, so you have enough strips to place a piece on each hot dog before wrapping.
  4. Assemble the Mummies: Place one hot dog on top of a cheese strip, then wrap it with about 4 pieces of crescent dough strips, overlapping slightly to create a mummy bandage effect. Repeat this process with the remaining hot dogs, cheese, and dough.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each mummy with melted butter to promote browning and flavor.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Add Eyes: After baking, use a toothpick to dot Dijon mustard on each hot dog to make the eyes of the mummy for that spooky finishing touch.

Notes

  • These mummy hot dogs make an iconic Halloween treat that’s simple, quick, and a hit for parties and family gatherings.
  • Using Dijon mustard for the eyes adds a nice tangy flavor and striking detail to the presentation.
  • Make sure the dough strips are thin enough to mimic bandages but strong enough to hold during baking.
  • Can be served with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce alongside for extra flavor.
