Description

Prosecco Grapes are a refreshing and elegant treat perfect for parties or a sophisticated snack. This recipe involves marinating crisp green grapes in bubbly prosecco to infuse them with flavor, then coating them in sugar for a sweet, textured finish. Serve chilled or frozen for a delightful bite that’s both fruity and fizzy.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cups green grapes (crunchy grapes work best)
  • 1 bottle of champagne or prosecco (any quality, does not need to be expensive)
  • 1 cup cane sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare and pierce grapes: Start by washing the grapes thoroughly under cold water. Remove each grape from the stem, then use a toothpick to carefully poke several small holes in each grape to allow the prosecco to seep inside and fully absorb the flavor.
  2. Marinate grapes: Place the pierced grapes in a large bowl and cover them with the entire bottle of prosecco. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight, but grapes can soak for up to 24 hours to maximize flavor infusion.
  3. Toss grapes in sugar: After marinating, drain the prosecco from the grapes, saving it for a cocktail or another use if desired. While the grapes are still moist from the prosecco, toss them in the cup of cane sugar to coat them evenly, which adds a sweet crunch.
  4. Chill or freeze: Spread the sugared grapes out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can refrigerate them until ready to serve for a cold treat or freeze them for a firmer, more refreshing bite. Bring to room temperature briefly if frozen before serving.

Notes

  • Use crunchy grapes for the best texture and flavor; avoid any grapes that are soft, soggy, or look unfresh.
  • Poking holes in the grapes helps the champagne or prosecco penetrate and infuse the fruit more thoroughly.
  • Toss grapes in sugar while they are still wet from the prosecco so the sugar sticks well.
  • Feel free to freeze the grapes and thaw them slightly before serving for a cool, sorbet-like experience.
  • Grapes can marinate in prosecco for up to 24 hours ahead, making this recipe great for advance preparation.
