Description

A vibrant and flavorful Sweet Chili Chicken recipe featuring tender chicken breast pieces marinated in a sweet and tangy chili sauce, stir-fried with fresh bell peppers and broccoli. Perfectly balanced with garlic and ginger, this dish is quick to prepare and garnished with sesame seeds and green onions, ideal for a delicious weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1 pound chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Green onions (sliced, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Add the bite-sized chicken pieces, tossing them thoroughly to coat each piece. Let the chicken marinate for 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken browns and is cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: Using the same skillet, add the minced garlic, minced ginger, sliced bell pepper, and broccoli florets. Sauté the vegetables for 5 to 7 minutes until they are tender but still crisp, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  4. Combine: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour any remaining marinade over the chicken and vegetables and cook together for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat everything well.
  5. Serve: Remove from heat and garnish the dish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for a fresh and nutty finish. Serve immediately, ideally over steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sweet chili sauce to suit your taste.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or noodles to make it a complete meal.
