Description

This TikTok Million Dollar Spaghetti recipe is a decadent, multi-cheese baked pasta dish featuring a rich homemade Alfredo sauce layered with a savory marinara meat sauce. Tender angel hair or spaghetti noodles are coated in creamy Parmesan Alfredo, topped with ground beef and Italian sausage marinara, and baked with a melty blend of mozzarella, fontina, and provolone cheeses. It’s a comforting, crowd-pleasing casserole perfect for dinner parties or family meals.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 1 lb. angel hair pasta or spaghetti

Meat Sauce

  • 1/2 lb. ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 lb. hot Italian sausage (mild works too)
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
  • 32 oz. marinara sauce
  • 10 garlic cloves, minced (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste

Alfredo Sauce

  • 1 stick butter (8 tablespoons)
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • Salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste

Topping Cheeses

  • 2/3 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2/3 cup fontina cheese, shredded
  • 2/3 cup provolone cheese, shredded

Garnish

  • Parsley for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the assembled spaghetti casserole.
  2. Make Alfredo Sauce: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil for the pasta. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium-low heat, melt 6 tablespoons of butter. Add half the minced garlic and stir until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream, bringing it to a low boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 5 minutes to thicken. Add Parmesan cheese and cream cheese, whisking until melted and sauce is smooth. Season with salt, freshly cracked pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
  3. Cook Pasta: Add the angel hair or spaghetti to the boiling water and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and return the pasta to the pot. Pour the Alfredo sauce over the pasta and toss well to evenly coat. Clean the skillet used for the Alfredo sauce for later use.
  4. Brown the Meat: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the cleaned skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking the meat into small pieces as it cooks. After about 2 minutes, add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and remaining minced garlic. Sauté the mixture until the meat is browned and vegetables have softened.
  5. Add Marinara Sauce: Pour in the marinara sauce along with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly and allow the sauce to heat through.
  6. Assemble the Casserole: Grease a large cast iron skillet or a 9×13 inch casserole dish. Spread the Alfredo-coated spaghetti evenly in the dish. Pour the marinara meat sauce over the pasta and smooth it out with a spatula.
  7. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella, fontina, and provolone cheeses evenly over the top of the assembled spaghetti and sauce.
  8. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes until bubbly and the cheese is melted. Optionally, broil for an additional 5 minutes to brown and crisp the cheese topping.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let rest briefly. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving to add freshness and color.

Notes

  • Just like when making lasagna, the sauce can bubble over and spill onto the bottom of the oven. To prevent this, place a baking sheet lined with foil on the rack underneath the baking dish.
  • You can swap mild Italian sausage if you prefer less heat.
  • For easiest clean-up, use a disposable foil pan or line your casserole dish with parchment paper.
  • Leftovers store well and can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a delicious next-day meal.
